Tooth Extractions in Portage Park

“An aching tooth is better out than in”

~ Richard Baxter
Some teeth need extractions.  There are various reasons for extractions but most common is severely decayed teeth that can no longer be restored with a crown.   Third molars, widely known as wisdom teeth, are also often extracted due to malposition or not enough room to fit all 32 teeth.

What to expect

We will numb the area with a topical gel, and then get you fully numb with anesthetic.  You should only feel pressure during extraction, however any sharp pain should be reported to us to make you feel comfortable.  You might also feel clicking or cracking sounds that are normal and should not be cause for an alarm.  We will go over every detail for your post op instructions and will send you an email as a reminder of everything we have gone through.  You will also leave with a post op goody bag to help you heal in better comfort

Can All 4 Wisdom Teeth Be Removed at One Time

A very common question we get asked is if it’s ok to extract all 4 wisdom teeth on the same day. Ultimately that comes down to personal preference of minimizing visits as about half of the patients prefer to get all extracted during the same visit while the other half prefers to get 2 extracted at a time for a total of 2 visits.
